NRA “First Steps” Shotgun

 

FIRST STEPS SHOTGUNBASIC LEVEL

OUTLINE: This class is designed by the NRA to provide beginning shooters with an introduction to the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to own and use a shotgun safely. It is also a great refresher course for a shooter that feels their basic skills are rusty. This is a Basic Skills class.

Topics covered in the course include:
1) Safe Shotgun Handling
2) Shotgun Parts and Operation
3) Ammunition Selection and Handling Ammunition Malfunctions
4) Fundamentals of Shooting a Shotgun
5) Shooting Targets (Stationary & Moving)
6) Cleaning & Storing your Shotgun
7) Training Opportunities

The course is 3 hours and the cost is $150. per person.


Provided: 12 gauge Pump or Semi-Auto Shotgun; 10 – 15 rounds low recoil 00 buckshot. Participants may provide their own shotgun (12 gauge, 16 gauge, 20 gauge, 28 gauge, or .410 gauge) and 10 -15 rounds of low recoil buckshot.

Required: Eye & Ear protection; an open mind
