2 Day Evasive Driving Course

According to the book “Just 2 Seconds” by Gavin De Becker, which analyzes hundreds of attacks on public figures from 1970 to 2000, the majority happened while the victims were in or around their cars.

Defensive Shooting Instructors has partnered with Tony Scotti’s world reknowned Vehicle Dynamics Institute in bringing this intensive 2 day course designed for and typically limited in scope to executive protection agents (bodyguards), and either diplomatic or executive chauffeurs – in limited availability to the general public.

The core emphasis is placed on developing the advanced skills necessary which will allow the student to recognize and respond proactively/spontaneously to life threatening situations ranging from deliberate attacks (such as carjacking or kidnapping attempts) to motor vehicle accidents.

Developing and sustaining these critical capabilities requires training, training…and, in some cases, more training. Recognizing and responding to potential threats and behind-the-wheel emergencies is not simply a question of how much training one undergoes, but whether or not that training is both effective and applicable to the real world challenges in which the driver lives/operates. How prepared a driver is may very well mean the difference between recognizing and responding to a potential threat and having to deal with the aftermath of a headline grabbing attack.

Carjacking Suspects Wanted - an ever present headline these days

"Carjacking Suspects Wanted" - an ever present headline these days. Be prepared!

Past and recent history shows that the answers to these and other equally important questions can only be found in surveillance detection training, which encourages the protection professional to assess the risks, threats and vulnerabilities of their principal from the attacker’s perspective, and driver training which accurately replicates real world scenarios and incorporates human factors such as reaction time and stress while holding students to an objective performance standard.

Maximum time behind the wheel gives the student countless repetitions of evasive techniques and maneuvers to escape dangerous situations. The training course is based on groundbreaking studies of auto-related terrorism incidents, feedback and intelligence from protective drivers around the world, and the expertise of our highly skilled and experienced training team.

This course is designed to improve the car control skills of licensed drivers at any experience level. The student learns about vehicle dynamics and the importance of understanding “vehicle language” accomplished through realistic exercises. The student will also learn about ocular driving (the use of focusing your eyes on where you want the vehicle to go.) Vehicle control skills will be applied to technical driving which requires the student to accurately read and negotiate a road way at elevated speeds. It will teach the driver how to use the vehicle as a means of escape or as a weapon for survival. The student will learn what a car is capable of and most importantly, their own limits. We will emphasize the importance of being mentally prepared in order to be able to react. The training is brought together through realistic situational exercises where the student comes under different types of attacks and is challenged to react.
